A Reminder for Furnace Maintenance
When winter and cold weather rapidly approach, the Rockford Area Association of REALTORS®
encourages property owners to have furnaces checked for proper maintenance and functioning.
A properly functioning furnace will distribute heat efficiently and save the homeowner
valuable dollars in heating bills. Faulty furnaces can easily go out of service during
winter months resulting in inconvenience and expense. Faulty furnaces with improper flue
connections can emit carbon monoxide which is a severe health hazard. Regular maintenance
of furnaces, particularly prior to peak winter usage, can prevent these problems from
occurring.
It is suggested that heating contractors who are licensed by a local governmental agency
and bonded be utilized for such maintenance work. By utilizing licensed contractors,
the homeowner can be assured that the work is performed by qualified competent and
experienced tradesmen.
